Ingredients
3medium sweet apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
2/3cupmaple syrup
1medium onion, diced
2cloves garlic, minced
1cupstrained tomatoes (or crushed tomatoes)
1/2cupapple cider vinegar
1tablespoonworsteshire sauce
1teaspoonsalt
1teaspoonblack pepper
1/2teaspoonsmoked paprika
1/2teaspoonpaprika
1/2teaspoon garlic powder
1/4teaspoonchili flakes
1/4teaspoonground cloves
1tablespoonbutter (for sauteeing)
Instructions
Sautee onions in butter until translucent.
Add garlic, and sauté, stirring frequently, until fragrant (make sure not to allow garlic to turn brown or it will be bitter).
Add onion and garlic mixture to the pot of a slow cooker or instant pot.
Add remaining ingredients and stir to combine.
Slow cook in crock pot or instant pot on low for 10 hours.
*If using a pressure cooker, set to slow cooker mode and keep steam nozzle open while cooking.*
After 10 hours, blend ingredients together with an immersion blender.
Pour sauce into a small pot and cook on the stove top on low heat to reduce water content for about 1-2 hours, stirring occasionally, until it reaches your desired thickness.
