Easy Homemade Natural Lip Balm with Coconut Oil

This DIY lip balm recipe is deeply nourishing, made with all natural ingredients. Coconut oil, tallow, and raw honey give dry lips the moisture and nutrients it needs - while beeswax seals all the goodness in!

Equipment

  • 1 double boiler or makeshift double boiler (small metal or glass bowl and small pot)
  • 1 whisk
  • 1 2 oz glass cosmetic container
  • 1 oven mitt
  • 1 Kitchen Scale

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons organic coconut oil
  • 10 grams beeswax
  • 10 grams grass fed tallow
  • 1 teaspoon organic raw honey

Instructions

  • Add beeswax pellets, coconut oil, honey, tallow, and optional add ins to small metal or glass bowl or top container of a double boiler.
  • Add a couple inches of water to a small pot or the bottom portion of a double boiler.
  • Set the bowl over the pot and place on a stove set to medium heat.
  • As the water begins to simmer, allow the ingredients to melt completely.
  • ​Once all of the ingredients are in a liquid state, mix thoroughly with a whisk.
  • With one hand protected by an oven mitt, lift the bowl of ingredients out of the pot.
  • Using the other hand, whisk ingredients while carefully pouring into the storage jar.
  • ​Carefully transfer storage jar to the refrigerator to cool.
  • Once fully cooled, cover with the lid and store in a dry place at room temperature for up to 3 months, or in the refrigerator for up to about 12 months.
  • Don't double dip, use a clean finger for each application.
