Healthy Homemade Ketchup Recipe: Paleo and Whole30

Equipment

  • 1 high speed blender
  • 1 Small Saucepan
  • 1 whisk
  • 1 rubber spatula
  • 1 airtight container (preferably glass)

Ingredients

  • 7 oz organic tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup organic dates (about 3 medjool or 5 deglet noor)
  • 1/3 cup filtered water
  • 1/4 cup organic apple cider vinegar
  • 1/8 tsp clove powder
  • 1/8 tsp allspice powder
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder

Instructions

  • Add dates and water to a high speed blender and blend until smooth.
  • Add tomato paste, spices, date puree, organic apple cider vinegar, salt, and black pepper to a small sauce pan and whisk until well combines.
  • Turn the stove on medium low and cook down ketchup mixture, stirring frequently, until it reaches your desired thickness.
  • Allow ketchup to cool to room temperature, then transfer to an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for at least 8 hours or overnight.
