1 Small Saucepan
1 large metal whisk for mashing strawberries
1 small metal whisk, bamboo whisk, or hand frother for mixing matcha
1 small cup for mixing matcha
2 16 oz serving cups (preferably glass)
Ingredients
1/2lbstrawberries (fresh or frozen)(if using fresh, you will also need 1/4 cup of water)
2tablespoonsmaple syrup
1 to 2teaspoonshigh quality matcha powder (amount depends on desired strength)
1/2cupfiltered water (preferably room temperature)
1 1/5cupswhole milk
Instructions
Make the Strawberry Puree
Add strawberries and maple syrup to a small saucepan (if using fresh strawberries, add 1/4 of water).
Heat strawberry mixture on the stove on medium, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries have begun to soften.
Mash the strawberries with a whisk and allow to come to a simmer.
Reduce to medium low heat and cook for 10 to15 minutes, stirring frequently.
Once strawberries have a thick sauce-like consistency and a fragrant berry small, remove from the heat and allow to come to room temperature (place in the fridge or freezer to speed this up).
Blend strawberries in a high speed blender or food processor until smooth.
Make the Matcha
Add matcha and water to a small cup and combine well with a whisk or handheld electric frother until there are no clumps.
Make the Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte
Distribute strawberry sauce evenly to the bottom of each serving cup.
Distribute milk evenly in a distinct second layer to each serving cup.
Gently add ice cubes to each serving cup.
Carefully distribute matcha mixture to each serving cup, for a the third layer.
Serve with straws and admire the beautiful layers as you sip.
