DIY Yogurt Hair Mask for Healthy Hair and Scalp

This DIY routine and recipe is a great way to improve the health of your hair and scalp, leading to more beautiful hair!

Equipment

  • 1 bowl
  • 1 whisk
  • 1 shower cap or towel
  • 1 wide-tooth comb

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Cup Plain yogurt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 batch acidic hair rinse (see notes)

Instructions

  • Add egg, and yogurt to a small bowl and combine well.
  • Gentry add mixture to wet hair and comb through hair as thoroughly as possible with a wide tooth comb.
  • Cover hair with a shower cap or towel and let mask sit on hair for 30 minutes.
  • Prepare an acidic hair rinse (see notes)
  • ​After 30 minutes, wash hair. Make sure the water is not too hot, or the egg will cook in your hair!
  • Shampoo hair twice, with half of acidic rinse between washes.
  • ​Apply a natural conditioner and rinse well.
  • ​Apply the last half of the prepared acidic hair rinse, and gently rinse from hair.
  • Upon leaving the shower, apply your choice of a natural leave-in conditioner if using.
  • For best results, patch test yogurt on hair before use to avoid allergic reactions.
