This invigorating blueberry latte combines a rich blueberry compote with strong coffee, ice, and creamy milk, creating a vibrant, fruity iced coffee – a perfect way to enjoy a refreshing pick-me-up!
Coffee and Blueberries?!
When I first heard of the blueberry coffee trend I thought it was a little strange. I was hesitant to change up my coffee routine by adding blueberries to my morning espresso drink. Little did I know, coffee and blueberries pair wonderfully in iced coffee drinks! The fruity, sweet flavor of blueberries pair marvelously with the bitter, fragrant notes of espresso for a deliciously unique cup of coffee. I couldn’t help but to have a second cup!
Why You Will Love This Recipe

Easy
This blueberry coffee recipe is made by first creating a simple homemade blueberry syrup. All you have to do is cook down blueberries with maple syrup, vanilla, and a pinch of salt for a few minutes. After allowing this blueberry mixture to chill for a bit, throw it in a high speed blender and blend until smooth. Now you’re ready to add your homemade blueberry coffee syrup to an iced latte!
Healthy
Blueberries and coffee are high in antioxidants, and this recipe is made with maple syrup instead of processed sugar. Add in ice, some espresso made with high quality coffee beans, pasture raised milk, and you have yourself a healthy cup of joe!
Delicious
Iced coffee with freshly brewed espresso and fresh homemade blueberry sauce is the perfect balance of bold and sweet. The fragrant, bitter notes of espresso pairs perfectly with the natural sweetness of the blueberries, creating an invigorating contrast. Ice and creamy milk mellow the intensity, making each sip refreshing and smooth. The combination of the espresso’s intensity with the fruity blueberry sauce creates a deliciously unique iced coffee drink!
What Kind of Blueberries to Use?
You can use fresh blueberries or frozen. My favorite way to make the blueberry syrup recipe is by using frozen wild blueberries! Wild blueberries are more flavorful and higher in antioxidants. Make sure to buy organic or pesticide residue free blueberries for the healthiest blueberry coffee.
What Kind of Coffee to Use?
This recipe is best when using a double shot of espresso. A regular cup of coffee or cold brew will not be as flavorful. Use a high quality organic coffee for the healthiest option, see my favorite brand at the bottom of this post! I will also link my favorite espresso machine.
What Kind of Milk to Use?
Whole milk is ideal for this recipe. Use pasture raised and non-homogenized or fresh milk for the healthiest option. Half and half makes an even more rich and creamy drink!
Fresh goat milk is another good option!
How to Store Homemade Blueberry Sauce

It’s a great idea to make a couple of batches at a time and keep it in the refrigerator until ready to use. Once fully cooled, store blueberry compote sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week, or in the freezer for up to 6 months. For freezing, feel free to store in small containers or in ice cube trays sealed in zip lock bags for easy 1 serving access.
How to Make a Homemade Blueberry Iced Latte

Add blueberries, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and salt to a small pot. Heat on a stove set to medium heat.
Bring to a simmer and let cook for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
Remove pot from heat and pour blueberry mixture into a metal container, then transfer to the refrigerator or freezer to allow to cool until it reaches about room temperature.
Blend cooled blueberry compote in a high speed blender until smooth.
Make a double shot of espresso and set aside.

Add about 1/3 cup of blueberry sauce to the bottom of a glass.
Add about 3/4 cup of ice.
Add 1/2 to 3/4 cup of whole milk or half and half.
Top with a double shot of espresso.
Admire the beautiful layers, then stir and enjoy with a straw!
