Next, combine the rest of the ingredients, throw everything in a loaf pan and pop it in the oven. 45 minutes later, remove the Amish cake from the oven and let the cake cool. Now, it’s ready to enjoy!

Healthy

This healthy recipe is made with sprouted oats for easy to digest carbs and beneficial dietary fiber. Apples and maple syrup add flavor and natural sweetness without the use of white sugar. Eggs, butter, and whole milk add high quality protein and healthy fats!

Delicious

This delicious oatmeal cake has the sweet flavors or oats, apples, and maple syrup, along with the warmth of cinnamon and creaminess of milk. Eggs give a delightful bite after being baked to perfection, and butter adds a wonderful richness to this Amish oatmeal cake.

Ingredients That Make This Old Fashioned Oatmeal Cake Amazing

Oats: oats are a wonderfully flavored grain that have a sweet taste and delightful, soft texture when baked. Instead of quick oats or rolled outs, use oats that are sprouted for increased digestibility and reduction of anti-nutrients found in grains.

Whole Milk: milk adds depth of flavor with sweet notes, and it is full of healthy fats and proteins.  Use non-homogenized and pasture raised milk for the healthiest option.

Eggs: eggs not only add protein and healthy fats, but also act as a leavening agent in this recipe. Use pasture raised eggs for the healthiest option.

Maple Syrup: maple syrup adds a natural sweetness to this baked oatmeal cake recipe. The cake itself is mildly sweet, feel free to add more maple syrup, honey, or coconut sugar on top!

Diced Apples: apples add an amazing texture and natural sweetness that pairs perfectly with the flavor of oats and cinnamon. Feel free to replace apples with blueberries for a different variation of this recipe!

Cinnamon: cinnamon adds a warmth and depth to this baked oatmeal that brings out the apple flavors.

How to Make Old Fashioned Amish Baked Oatmeal Cake

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Add milk and butter to a small sauce pan set to medium low heat. Heat until butter is fully melted and milk is warmed.

Add oats and apples to saucepan and combine. Let this cool for a few minutes.

Add maple syrup, egg, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon to a large mixing bowl and combine well.

Ensuring the oat mixture is not too hot (so it won’t scramble the egg), add to the large bowl with egg and maple syrup mixture and combine.

Prepare a glass baking dish by greasing the bottom and sides with butter.

Pour oatmeal mixture into prepared baking dish and spread evenly.

Bake for 45 minutes or until slightly golden brown on top.

Remove from oven and let rest in pan for 10 minutes before slicing.

Cut into squares or rectangles and serve on individual serving dishes.

Serve with added toppings like milk, cream, or yogurt and sweeteners like maple syrup or honey.

Enjoy!
